About Us

While visiting the Grand Canyon on our honeymoon, as we sat overlooking the endless beauty of the painted gorges, we thought about all this country has to offer that we had yet to see. From the clear blue waters of the Florida Keys to the panoramic views of Glacier National Park, a lengthy bucket list began to form. We began to long for the days of retirement, when our dues have all been paid and we could start checking off the destinations we dreamed to visit.

Is this the American dream? To work our lives away in hopes of one day being able to travel freely?

In this moment, The Continuous Journey began. It didn’t have a name, but the concept was formed. Why wait? Why not now? What’s stopping us? Where was the guarantee that we would make it that far? Would we both live to the age of retirement? Would our circumstances keep us from being able to enjoy the adventure?

Our decision became clear in an instant. We couldn’t wait. We shouldn’t wait. There would never be a better time than now. We are young adults, with no children. We’re not in school. We don’t own a house. We don’t know where we want to plant roots. Our families are spread across several states. There was nothing tying us down, nothing holding us back.

Since then, it’s all been about the details. This blog has been created to document our journey. While reading it, you can follow us as we figure out the ins and outs of putting our dream into motion. We hope that by creating a chronicle of our decisions, successes, pitfalls, and travels, others will realize that this is not something only obtained in retirement. We hope that you will be encouraged by our story and look forward to sharing our journey with you!
